Denver Broncos Training Camp Day 11 Evening Practice
The Denver Broncos are tired of hitting on each other. In fact, I would say it’s getting down right Chippy out on the practice field. The guys can’t wait to hit someone other than teammates.
On Tuesday, there were a lot less drills and installation, with more full speed action. There is a lot of chatter on the field, especially from the defensive side of the ball. This team is ready to battle.

On one play, Rookie DL Chris Baker flung Correll Buckhalter to the ground. Buckhalter immediately jumped up and threw the ball towards Baker’s feet, but there is one thing to understand here. In Training Camp the defense goes against everything they have been taught all their lives, that’s to drop that dude in the other color.
You can imagine after a couple weeks of this, the Broncos can’t wait to face off against the San Francisco 49ers in their first Pre-Season Game on Friday night.
Sideline Report:

- During the off-season, there was talk of Tony Scheffler being traded to another team. Scheffler was not happy about Jay Cutler being traded, but Tony appears to be moving on. He is making buddies with Kyle Orton. There is a chemistry developing here. Of course, what quarterback wouldn’t want a big target like Tony, running free.
- I am really happy that Josh McDaniels retained Keith Burns. They were working on special teams, with Alphonso Smith back for punts near the goal line. Coach witnessed an infraction on punt coverage and took Kenny McKinley to the side for some coaching, and the Rookie listened!
- Robert Ayers went to the sideline at one point and got his upper right leg wrapped. I noticed he had a limp, but continued to play. Possibly a hamstring pull.
- Josh McDaniels loves Brandon Stokley! Stokley has had a tremendous camp and should be a major part of the offense.
- When Casey Wiegmann isn’t on the field, Ben Hamilton has been sliding over to center.
- Tony Carter picked off a couple passes
- Tom Brandstater is very inconsistent at this point. Hopefully, with practice he will get better. Brandstater has a big arm, but could use work on his short game. Today, he put two passes in the dirt, in a row.
- Apparently, the Rookies all go to the same barber. The Right of Passage has led them into doing anything! Knowshon Moreno was sporting a Mr. T looking hairstyle, while Tom Brandstater had the old man look that’s bald in the middle — but has hair on the sides and back (Shave it All off people). Take a look at the pictures, they say everything!

- I almost got Rookie Safety David Bruton in my lap, after a ball was overthrown into the crowd. I always wanted in the action!
- We finally spotted Mike Nolan today, he’s been pulling a “Where’s Waldo” with us this past week. He seems to prefer peeking around the players.
- NFL Films was at camp today. Not sure what for, but it was cool!

- Eddie Royal and D.J. Williams did not practice.
