Denver Broncos Training Camp Wednesday Morning Practice
By Jeremy Glasoe | August 19, 2009
After practice today, Brandon Marshall admitted he’s “not even close” to knowing the playbook. Why not? Hasn’t Brandon had plenty of time away from the field to study?
Brandon worked with the scout team today, probably because he doesn’t know the playbook. Head Coach Josh McDaniels is doing what a coach should. Practice can’t be stopped to teach the vain receiver, that hasn’t shown any interest in even learning the new offense.
Around the league the Denver Broncos are being looked at as a team in disarray. This simply isn’t the case. I have been to many practices during this Training Camp and none of the other players are having problems with the new regime.

Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall are the only players that have had any problems with the team. These two players were coddled and babied by Mike Shanahan - as much as I hate to say it - because I loved Shanahan! Truth is, Cutler and Marshall are prima donna’s, that can’t put the team ahead of themselves.
Marshall was one of my favorite Broncos, but my frustration has reached its limits. With Royal, Stokley, Gaffney, Lloyd, McKinley, Jackson, and Swift, the receiving core for the Broncos will be good without B Marsh. I hear the Jet’s are really interested, let’s see what we can get Broncos Brass!
Sideline Report:

- Early in practice the offense worked extensively on the running game. As practice went on, the passing game was also thrown in, including some trick plays like a successful flea-flicker and a end around to Eddie Royal.
- The entire Defense got a lap, when a player wasn’t on the field when he was supposed to be. Not sure who goofed up on that one. but McD obviously doesn’t like the mental errors.

- I can’t say enough about how this defense is rallying together and playing a team D. During the off-season the defense has been my main concern. Can’t say that’s the case anymore. The more camp goes on, the better they get. Today they really worked as a unit in stopping the run and came up with a couple more interceptions. Vernon Fox and Lee Robinson both snagging an interception, and there could have been more!
- In the red-zone offense Tony Scheffler was very effective, and has been all camp.
- Eddie Royal, Alphonso Smith, and Kenny McKinley have all been affective in the return game, tough choice ahead. I think they would like one of the rookies to take the spot. Royal is a good returner, but risk of injury could be a factor.
- Although I am frustrated with Brandon Marshall, he did bring his emotion to the field today. I did see a few players rallying behind Marshall. We witnessed teammates slapping him on the back of the helmet, but there is obvious damage done.
- Some think Kyle Orton lacks arm strength. On one play, Kyle threw a pass about 50 yards to Jabar Gaffney. Jabar laid out for the pass and just missed it off his fingertips.
- During practice Josh McDaniels simulated crowd noise by playing loud music. At times he signalled for the music dude to turn it way up! A popular song during training camp has been Young Jeezy’s, Bottom of the Map. The defense really gets pumped when the song comes on.
- Champ Bailey and Brandon Stokley did not practice
- With the exception of Brandon Marshall, the team is working very hard. I like what I see!

Another great blog post Jeremy. I can’t wait to see the “Mc Defense” in action this year. They have nowhere to go but upwards and they know it. I am hoping the 3-4 along with some weight on the front line will prevail.
